I wrote this on a friends board but thought I would share it with everyone: Hope is real but anyone can hope, not just those that believe in Jesus. I escaped the cult years ago and its the best thing that ever happened to me. There is no difference between a man that believes in Jesus and a man that doesnt. They both will have victories and they both have defeats. They will both have trials. They will both have times that seem like God is right there by their side and they will both have dark days where they wonder what happened to him. A Christian will die in a fire. A Christian will get a disease. A Christian will sometimes fall on hard times. When it happens to the secular man, a Christian will say he needs to find Jesus. When it happens to a Christian, well, it was just meant to be. Its a double standard. People are brought to Jesus through correlative perception. Something is wrong in their life and because the Christian world often has such a support system in place for broken people, those people attribute their new-found life to a man named Jesus because thats who they are told to attribute it to. The good news is, it is for some people a vehicle for betterment and incredibly therapeutic so I try not to knock it too much unless their views become extremely fundamental. At that point, theyre detrimental to the world around them because religious fundamentalism is what starts and/or perpetuates all the wars. Look at the middle east as we speak. All based on religious rivalry. They each think their God is the only one and theyll fight until their proud deaths for that ideology. Isnt it a shame that that which brings so many people comfort, is also responsible for extremism and death. - Ironic.
