I wrote to Congress a few months ago!! I finally got a response from them!! Here it is!! Unfortunately they have waited far to long to run studies on the Neonicotinoids!! Europe and Russia have already banned the use of this Insecticide!! At one time in his life, Albert Einstein Said If the bee population collapses their will be massive famine with in any area of a collapse!!! Many countries have already threat- ened sactions against us!!! Every time you shop organic, you are telling Dow, Monsanto that you dont want Neonicotinoids in or on your food, conventional foods are many times sprayed with this insecticide!! If you want more info about bees google my food Blog Path2food and their will be atleast 3 posts about how we can start to solve this!!!! The Butterflies and bats are also affected by this chemical!! They are dieing off also, between the butterflies, bats, bees- they pollinate over 65% of our food, we need pollinators to continue to grow and provide foods for are families!! Humanity cant fully rely on government to fix this, they arent taking responsibility so we must, are children are counting on us, to be responsible citizens....... Dear Concern over the bees Kyes, Thank you for contacting me regarding bee colony collapse disorder. I appreciate you taking the time to write. It is an honor to serve you in Congress and I hope you will continue to write with your thoughts and ideas on moving our country forward. On July 16, 2013, Congressman John Conyers introduced H.R. 2692, the Saving Americas Pollinators Act. This legislation would require the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to suspend the use of insecticides derived from neonicotinoids, one of the most common types of insecticide. Furthermore, EPA would need to complete a study of the impact of neonicotinoids on bee populations. Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) is a mysterious disease that results in large numbers of bee deaths. Significant periods of bee population decline are not uncommon—there were several bouts of CCD throughout the 20th century, long before the advent of neonicotinoids. Although research is ongoing, no studies have established the cause of this disorder. I am concerned with the potential implications of a massive decrease in pollinators like bees, especially for agriculture producers. Since September 2012, EPA has been reviewing the impact of neonicotinoid-based insecticides on bee populations and will likely release the results of that study soon. Rest assured, I am thoroughly reviewing H.R. 2692 and will keep your thoughts in mind should it come to the House floor for a vote. Again, thank you for contacting me, and do not hesitate to do so again when an issue is important to you. Sincerely,
