IAF plans an upgradation for the Jaguar. Its obvious because Jaguar and Mirage-2000 are the only IAF fighters that can carry nukes. Heres what is exactly going to be upgraded: 1. AUTOPILOT : Relieves pilots of physical flyings on long flights. 2. GLASS COCKPIT : Digital MFDs (Multi Function Displays) to replace analog dials, removing cockpit clutter. 3. HOTAS : Hands-On-Throttle-And-Stick places key buttion on throttle lever. Advantage : Pilot is able to perform other tasksas he flies the aircraft without taking his hands off the throttle and stick. 4. FLY BY WIRE : In this, flight control surfaces are moved by electric pulses sent by flight computer and not by mechanical linkages. 5. ENGINES : More powerful engine to replace Rolls Royce Adour-811 powerplant. 6. WIDE-ANGLE HUD : A pilot can either look out of the cockpit window or put his head down to scan flight instruments. HUD lets him do both together by displaying flying data across windshield/ 7. SEAD (SUPPRESSION OF ENEMY AIR DEFENCES) CAPABLITY : Twin wide band jammers/4 high speedanti-radiant missile/4 integrated electronic warfareescort-cum-decoy system 8. INTEGRATED DEFENSIVE SUITE (IDAS) : Neutralises threat from enemy missile. IDAS will increase a radar/laser warning receiver, full multi-spectral detection-capable missile approach warning system, electronic warfare jammer pod and a fibre optic towed-decoy. 9.
