IAGS Members: CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR THE POST OF CO-EDITOR OF GENOCIDE STUDIES AND PREVENTION, THE JOURNAL OF THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF GENOCIDE SCHOLARS (IAGS) The International Association of Genocide Studies is seeking a team of editors for its open-access, on-line journal, Genocide Studies and Prevention: An International Journal (GSP). The editors will be dynamic and nationally recognized researchers with doctorates or their equivalent possessing a wide-ranging background in the fields that comprise genocide studies, broadly conceived, and a strong commitment to keeping the journal the premier publication in the field. The initial term for editors will be five years. GSP is the official journal of the IAGS and publishes peer-reviewed scholarly research of the highest merit which advances understanding of genocide and related forms of mass violence through conceptual development, high-level analysis, and sophisticated methodology aimed at answering important questions. Through its excellence, the journal promotes deeper understandings of the phenomenon of genocide, raises awareness of it as an ongoing scourge, and investigates the means of preventing it and mitigating its consequences. To fully serve the field of genocide studies, broadly envisioned to encompass related forms of mass violence, the journal will continue to develop its importance as a forum for the exploration of ideas and the publication of debates that promote serious conversations among academic scholars, policy makers, and field workers based in the many disciplines engaging genocide scholarship. These include anthropology, art, communications, criminology, economics, forensics, history, international relations, journalism, law, literature, military science, philosophy, political science, psychology, public health, religion and sociology. The IAGS and its journal are beholden only to the highest standards of scholarly research and publication, eschewing conflicts of interest and the appearance of conflicts of interest in their structures, their funders and their professional work. Applicants for the position of editor should submit the following materials: Description of qualifications A brief statement outlining the applicant’s goals for journal content, target readership, acceptance criteria, editorial policy and editorial decision-making Views on the status of the journal today, opportunities for growth and development, and suggestions about ways to achieve those goals Curriculum vitae Applications are due by August 1, 2013, and should be e-mailed as PDF attachments to Dr. Kjell Anderson (anderson.kjell@gmail), chairperson of the IAGS Journal Transition Committee.
