IBF/AFRICA GLARING AT A ROBUST YEAR 2015 By Onesmo Alfred McBride Ngowi Dar Es Salaam (TANZANIA), Windhoek (NAMIBIA) and Dubai (UAE): The IBF/Africa which is the continental representative for the IBF in Africa, Middle East & Persian Gulf region is preparing itself for the very busy 2015 whereas most of its regional titles and newly established ones would be challenged. According to the newly restructured IBF/Africa operational systems, the functions of IBF/Africa especially on the service delivery would be much easier and in time. “We are looking at a fastest and proper service delivery method that reaches recipients in a much faster and appropriate manner” said one IBF/Africa’s technocrat familiar with the reorganization which is an internal matter at the moment. For the continent bedeviled with poor communications infrastructure and proper methods of service delivery, the newly restructured IBF/Africa would adhere well with the needs of the boxing stakeholders. “Similarly, the functioning of the IBF/Africa in discharging its services during and after the championships and other official engagements would be simplified to meet the local needs” continued the technocrats familiar with the new structure being unveiled! Another person with the links with the IBF/Africa said that they newly restructured system would be a blessing to the boxing stakeholders. “What we pray is for the boxers in this region to get priorities in the ratings and titles as other boxers elsewhere” said the stakeholder. The stakeholder continued by saying; “But, a number of challenges face the newly launched structure though and this include local boxing bodies failing to professionally vet boxers who are vying for its national titles” “When you have local boxing bodies that do not care of the qualities of the boxers who are fighting for the local titles, you have a major problem on hand” elaborated the stakeholder. He concluded by said that “ In order to beat this trodden-horse local boxing bodies need to structures both their progression pathway when a boxer leave the amateur ranks and join professional. Also, a proper system of vetting boxer for ratings should be reexamined”. It is all systems go for the IBF/Africa as it readying for the year 2015 with great challenges and prospects in the Sweet Science but hoping for the positive results. They call it Africa!
