IBM Mainframe QA Tester Ft Knox, KY Contract to Hire Permanent Must have Active Secret Clearance $40- $47/hr Duties & Responsibilities: Responsible for the coordination and execution of system functionality and user acceptance testing; which requires the ability to define and work within a process that assures test plans, test scripts and test cases are created and followed to ensure appropriate testing of system upgrades and modifications. Need ability to write and execute test cases utilizing current templates; ability to interface with end users to obtain application functionality / requirements to support test case creation. Perform black box testing of all products against pre-defined requirements and validate the results. Formulate/document test plans for re-creatable test scenarios. Create and maintain automated test scripts by utilizing existing tools and available languages for all existing products. *Ensure proper reporting of test results by a) adhering to proper problem log reporting procedure processes b) provide status reports. *Document internal procedures and processes. *Use client and mainframe change control procedures for development of QA components. *Make recommendations for improvements, consistency, etc. *Maintain Quality Assurance testing environments including but not limited to OS updates, patches, virtualized systems, etc. *Write test objectives and scripts so that expected results can be validated. *Validate that the new release requirements, the documentation and the expected results are equal. *Ensure that test scripts are written so that they are repeatable by other QA Analysts or by less skilled staff. *Consult with other QA staff members and development to determine how features are utilized. *Create regression testing as required. *Meet with development to help formulate test plans to be used for unit testing and eventually in the quality assurance process. *Proof product documentation for content and quality. *Experience with regression testing of legacy mainframe applications and operating systems. *Coordinate creation of testing data necessary to run test cases. *Maintain detailed test status (e.g. test case summary, JIRA defects) *Provide guidance to other team members/testers during testing. *Test and validate training and documentation materials associated with deliverable. *Work with Project Evaluation Coordinator for coordination of testing cycles; Work in partnership with IT Development/Operations and Business Owners to schedule production installs. *Experience with automated testing tools (i.e. HP Quick Test Pro). Minimum Qualifications: Working knowledge of mainframe applications and technology to include but not limited to: *IBM Customer Interface Control System (CICS). *IBM COBOL II. *IBM Job Control Language (JCL). *IBM TSO/ISPF *CA Roscoe *Strong problem solving, organization and planning skills *Attention to detail, ability to multi task, adapts quickly to change and demonstrate flexibility. *Excellent communication skills and ability to think ‘out of the box’ *Team Oriented - able to work well with all levels of employees. *Possess a SECRET clearance or have the ability to obtain one. *Must have an interim SECRET to begin work on the contract. *Possess a Security certification or comparable certification. *Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field and 5 years experience or 7 years experience as a mainframe software tester/QA Preferred Qualifications: *Solid technical skills in an IBM mainframe test and development environment. *Design, build, test and implement software enhancements for mainframe platform. *Analytical experience with mainframe application design and development, system migrations and conversions. *A strong background in z/OS Experience: *Must have in depth knowledge of the z/OS operating environment. *Must have knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle and QA processes (ISO/IEEE/CMM desired). *Must be able to ascertain and stay focused on objectives and deliverables as per software requirements. *Must be able to track task durations and keep a repository for estimating future activities. *Must have some knowledge of mainframe maintenance application (e.g. SMP/E). *Ability to test CICS mainframe programs that provide interface between web portals and mainframe DATACOM database. Desired experience: *Must have good PC, z/OS and JCL knowledge. *Must know at least one programming language such as Mainframe COBOL, COBOL II, and one PC based language such as C#, C, or Java. *Knowledge of ACF2 a big plus. *Knowledge of z/VM, z/OS DATACOM, vSphere, VMWare Assembler language programming, CICS, MQ, CA-1, CA-ACF2, CA-Roscoe, CA-OPS/MVS, CA-Sysview, CA-7, CA-11, CA-Dispatch, CA-Datacom/DB, CA-TPX, CLIST and REXX programming experience, Disaster Recovery experience, knowledge of computer room operations, Hardware installation support and some understanding of IP communications.
