IC will be organising an insightful observation on 1st september marked as the Anti Imperialist day starting with two screenings of documentaries - 1. War in Gaza 2. n imperialism followed by a talk by Modhushree -- Monday, september 1, 3pm, plt-1 From a more somber perspective, let us remember that, exactly a hundred years ago, people in France, Belgium, Germany, Prussia, Great Britain and Russia were living under the countdown to the First Battle of the Marne, one of the major battles of the First World War. An even more solemn reminder is that the 1st of September marks the Diamond Jubilee of the German invasion of Poland, the accepted beginning of the Second World War. We hate to impede the general spirit of happiness prevailing, we really do. However, we could not bring myself to forget what this day, this month, this year means. Are we really a hundred years away from war? Funny, despite all the grandeur that civilization has given us, we are reminded consistently of mans capacity for war, and we find that the only reason we can escape that despondency is reminding myself of mans capacity for love. So, let us remember to love. One hundred years from war
