ICARDA Intemational Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas Job Vacancy The International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) has the following vacancy: Communication and Project Management Officer Middle East Water & Livelihoods Initiative Nationally Recruited Position, Closing date: 1st October 2013 Main purpose of the position Facilitate WLI information dissemination, and enhance mutual communication and understanding between the WLI network of partners, stakeholders, and ICARDA. The specialist will in addition help in monitoring the progress reporting and provide administrative support to the project manager and IWLMP director. Main responsibilities Update WLI website, country information, and produce newsletters, reports; WLI dedicated publication series; development of promotion materials and success stories Develop and maintain information database on WLI partners, ensuring open access to data and research outputs and calendar of forthcoming WLI-related events; Promote focus on livelihoods of rural households within WLI through ensuring creative and effective communication activities; Support ongoing monitoring and evaluation activities including collection and compilation required indicators; Plan, compile and submit routine reports of WLI donors and stakeholders; Participate in fund mobilization efforts including drafting funding proposals on request; Provide support for CRPs communication efforts implemented by IWLMP. Education, qualifications and experience MSc in agriculture, water resources management, resource economics, communication or related subject with at least five years post MSc experience in communication and projects monitoring and evaluation. Excellent interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to work with rural communities, students, extension workers and scientists. Experience liaising with donors (including fund raising) and government institutions Excellent written and oral communication in English; strong computer skills. Preferably, ability to use IT and social media for development. Knowledge of Arabic and French desirable.
