ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE. Friday I was challenged by retired - TopicsExpress

ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE. Friday I was challenged by retired Inspector Lou Riccardi (San Mateo SO & DAs Office) to participate in the Officer Down Memorial Ice Bucket Challenge. If I elect to decline the challenge I can donate $100. to the ODM, which supports law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty and their families. You can easily donate by Internet at ODMP.org. If I choose to accept this challenge I agree to donate $10. and dump a bucket of ice water on my head to be posted on Facebook. So far this year we have lost 46 law enforcement officers in the us, plus 10 police K9s. Eight of these officers were from California. Naturally I chose to accept the challenge made by my good friend and brother Lou Riccardi and his boss Lakeport Police Chief Brad Rasmussen, which they posted on Friday. In making their challenge they named several working and retired officers including the entire Executive Board of Directors of the California Robbery Investigators Assoc. Both Riccardi and I serve on this board, are former Presidents and life members of this organization. What he failed to consider is the fact that our founder retired Detective Sgt. Jack Giroud, LAPD Robbery Homicide Div., Sgt.Frank OFarrell, LASD Homicide retired and both our northern and southern chapter Controllers Bob McConnell and John Baker are octogenarians, which for Lou means over 80 years of age. Unfortunately they are unable to accept since all four are attending the annual Hoveround Scooter Marathon Games in Pismo Beach. Another Board member challenged is Sgt. Patrick Boyd, SJPD retired, who is currently in Mexico after sneaking across the boarder as an illegal alien to celebrate his birthday today. That said I will step up to the plate and accept the challenge from Chief Rasmussen and his office boy on behalf of my pals Boyd, Giroud, OFarrell, McConnell and Baker. Unlike Riccardi and Rasmussen who required the staff of the LPD to dump the two little buckets on their heads before running off squealing about the cold just as fast as their little white legs could carry them, I shall dump the ice buckets on my own head. I shall also use not one or two by 13 buckets as youll see on this video. I dedicate this event to San Jose Police Officer Richard Huerta who was gunned down and killed by a coward in 1070, 41 years ago this month. RIP brother. I challenge retired Lakeport Police Officer Lloyd Wells. I thought Id go directly to the top and challenge a high ranking law enforcement official like a Sheriff perhaps. Unfortunately we wont have one until January. So, I challenge my friend Sheriff Tom Allman and retired Sheriff Jim Tuso of the Mendocino County Sheriffs Office. Both are ardent supporters of this cause. I challenge all three to participate in the Ice Bucket Challenge within the next 48 hours and donate $10. each or decline and donate $100. to OFMP. If you have already participated in the challenge then you may send $500. to me. Im apologize for the length of my statement but this is an important cause dear to the hearts of all law enforcement officers and their families. You do not have to be in law enforcement to make a donation. As a side note each year the California Robbery Investigators Association honors our fallen brothers and sisters during our annual training seminar. This year we will be in Las Vegas in February. See robberycria. Thank you and keep safe.
