It was a much closer game and it looked like Edinburgh were going to pick up their first Challenge Cup win. After a goalless first period the home side opened the scoring in the 32nd minute. It remained like that until the 58th minute when Fife were back on level terms to send the game into overtime. A goal early in the third period from the visitors reduced the deficit to a single goal for the second time. Despite the Clan pulling their goaltender in the final minute they were unable to get the goal that would have taken the game into overtime. Hull were still very much in the game against Dundee until they gave up three goals in the third period and suffered their fifth straight league loss. Dundee went in front in the 49th minute and never looked back, they added a fourth goal in the 57th minute and completed the scoring with an empty netter with one second remaining to win 5-2. Player of the week This week’s player of the week goes to a player who got the game winning goal two night’s running for his team in their two home games against Cardiff on Friday and Saturday. A new player to the Elite League this season he has adapted well with his new teammates and has 4+5 for 9 points in the 11 games he has played so far this season. It gives me great pleasure to ask Belfast Giants Mike Kompon to skate forward and accept his applause.
