ICYMI: Implementing a Fair Tax in Illinois, with lower rates for lower incomes and higher rates for higher incomes, would provide a tax CUT for the median household in every single suburban Chicago county. Even under the doomsday scenarios being fabricated by right-wing groups like Americans for Prosperity and the Illinois Policy Institute -- literally claiming it will destroy Illinois economy/business climate -- the math actually shows a Fair Tax is, in truth, a tax CUT for an overwhelming majority of Illinois. (To be clear, ABI has not endorsed this or any specific rate structure yet, but fact the right wings end-of-the world scenario lowers taxes, not raises them, is quite telling.)
