IDA reports that the highest net level of job creation for a decade took place in 2014. Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal, Alan Farrell has said that the fact that over 15,000 new jobs were created by IDA Ireland in 2014 is encouraging news. IDA Ireland is the government agency responsible for attracting foreign direct investment to Ireland. “I am encouraged by the fact that IDA client companies created over 15,000 new jobs last year. When job losses are taken into account, the IDA report that, the net employment increase by their client companies is over 7,100. This is the highest net level of job creation in 10 years. We now have the highest level of employment by client firms in IDA Ireland’s history with over 174,400 people currently employed by these companies. “This news is made even more encouraging by the fact that, as IDA Ireland estimate, for every 10 jobs created by one of their client companies, another seven jobs are created in the wider economy. For instance, over 10,000 people are currently employed on construction projects currently being undertaken by IDA client firms. “Attracting foreign direct investment is an integral component of the Action Plan for Jobs, particularly as roughly 10 percent of the Irish workforce is employed by multinational companies. Dublin Fingal is in a geographically advantageous position to benefit from further job creation and investment by these multinational companies. “IDA Ireland is optimistic about attracting future flows of foreign direct investment into Ireland. With such a young, dynamic and educated workforce in Dublin Fingal, it is my hope that such investment will create many more jobs across the North County. While this shows that our economic recovery is going from strength to strength, many people have yet to feel the impact of this recovery in their own homes. I will continue to work towards making sure that everybody feels the benefit of our improving economy and I will continue to actively engage with the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD to ensure further job creation takes place in Dublin Fingal.” alanfarrell.ie/ida-reports-that-the-highest-net-level-of-job-creation-for-a-decade-took-place-in-2014/
