IDQ20038 Bureau of Meteorology Queensland Regional Office TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING - SOUTHEAST QUEENSLAND for HEAVY RAINFALL For people in the Logan, Moreton Bay and parts of the Ipswich, Somerset, Scenic Rim, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Brisbane Council Areas. Issued at 12:24 pm Monday, 19 January 2015. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Beaudesert, Tamborine, Caboolture, Kilcoy, Woodford, Mount Beerwah and Peachester. 54mm of rainfall was recorded in 30 minutes near Jimboomba around 12pm. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500. The next warning is due to be issued by 1:25 pm. A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for the Southeast Coast and parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett districts. Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureaus website at bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 219. The Bureau and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly. Plan Image
