TO 04:00 P.M. SPEAKER: Dr.S.M.Ahmed, Principal Scientific Officer (Central Instruments Laboratory, University of Hyderabad) OPEN TO ALL STUDENTS. Speaker profile:Dr.S.M.Ahmed completed his M.Sc. in 1984from University of Hyderabad and his Ph.D. at Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad in 1990. He later joined as an academic faculty at Institute for Plasma Research (IPR), Gandhinagar in 1992 and continued to work as Associate Professor-I, till 2004. His field of interest at IPR was “Spectroscopic Diagnostics on Tokamaks”. During the period between 1994 and 1996 he worked at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, USA as a Research Associate. Later, between 2001and 2002 he served as Sabbatical at Swiss Federal Institute (EPFL), Switzerland. He joined ISRO’s most ambitious Chandrayaan project in 2005 and developed a quadrupole based mass spectrometer which worked successfully in the Moon Impact Probe mission. In the year 2009 he joined University of Hyderabad as Principal Scientific Officer heading the Central Instruments laboratory.
