IEEE USM Student Branch, Malaysia organized a workshop to prepare the participating students for the IEEE Xtreme 24-Hours Programming Competition 2014. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Shahrel and Dr. Junita, both Associate Professors from USM. 15 students participated in the preparatory workshop. Dr. Shahrel has past experience as a judge for programming competitions. He stressed the fact that the students need not put too much emphasis on the length of the code, but rather focus on delivering the right outputs for the program. He also advised the students to be very familiar with the fundamentals and use languages which they are most familiar.
