IF I ever had ANY doubts that The Jeter Circus WASNT just a money grab, those (already slim) doubts have gone completely down the drain with the announcement that Jeter will be DHing in Boston. See, this is how it goes: Jeter ending his career with a walk-off game winning hit in the House Next To The House That Ruth Built was a PERFECT way for him to end his career. FREAKING PERFECT. But clearly, TV AD TIME WAS ALREADY PRE-SOLD FOR THE BOSTON GAMES BASED ON THE IDEA THAT THE CAPTAIN WOULD APPEAR. Because, seriously, WHY ELSE ON EARTH WOULD HE PLAY? Jeter probably WANTED to opt out, but was called in, and told that MILLIONS in ad time had been pre-sold based on HIM APPEARING, and that he had to be a good sport and show up as a DH. Seriously, whatever genuine and deserving love we may have for Jeter, THIS STINKS. Its the tell that gives the WHOLE sorry enterprise away.
