IF ONLY PEOPLE WOULD LISTEN: I went to New Boston , Texas to visit a friend who is shift commander for that county sheriffs department. I arrived just about 4 pm as the officers were assembling for a meeting before they went on patrol. My friend invited to sit in on the preshift information that was given to the officers. once they were through we walked to the parking lot towards the patrol units, then the officers began to make a circle. I was invited to join the circle by the officers but at that point I was unsure what it was for. then they began to hold hands which formed a complete circle at which time my friend said. does anyone want to lead the prayer tonight. I almost broke into tears as one of the officers said, its my turn Sarge.He began to pray for the safety of each one of the officers on patrol that night. then he prayed for the people of that county that they were sworn to protect. from there he began to thank God for all the mercies and things He had given each officer and their department. He close with asking safety for all other public servants who were working. they then went to their units an left on patrol. I told my friend I had not bjknown of any department that did what they did tonight except for Tulsa, Oklahoma pd. He said that it was an every day thing with them that they never left on patrol without prayer.. so with that ....New Boston Sheriffs dept I commend you for following God and being an example for us all....
