IF TRUTH MUST BE TOLD!Truth no matter how down played, manipulated or delayed remains truth;and even become more revealing over time. The more attempts are made to surpress the truth, the more it radiates to overwhelm lies and misconceptions.Buhari,no doubt is a phenomenon in Nigerias politics. He is the man of the moment as he represents the major opposition party that will challenge the incumbent President in the forthcoming 2015 election. That Buhari won the Presidential primary of the APC was neither news nor a surprise to political gladiators. What has reawakened the general consciousness of fans of this great man is what Buhari means to them;including my humble self.Buhari may hoist the flag of any party including the ruling PDP,yet attract the attention of a good number of Nigerians.Like he rightly stated in his acceptance speech,he had no money to induce the electorates or delegates to vote for him;and even if he could,he certainly would not have done so because the nation is not for sale. This position of this great man truely represents him in words and actions.Buhari reminds me of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo whom many scholars of politics described as the best President Nigeria never had.For Buhari,he remains the best President Nigeria is yet to have.I am not partisan and do not have preference for any political party, however I remain an admirer of Buhari amply because he has the morality and integrity that are grossly lacking in many Politicians and Nigerians. So much have been said to thwart the ambitious drive of Buhari to become the President.I certainly would ignore those lies here and dwell more on the integrity and leadership attributes of this man.Every Nigerian do agree that the system is decayed, not working and that corruption and impunity are now culturally endemic;Nigeria is also impoverished and insecured. In other words all is not well with Nigeria,if I may borrow the words of Catholic Bishops;and Nigeria can best be likened to a drowning man.We can not deceive ourselves as this is our position. To make matter worse, corruption and misgovernance have risen so much so that the middle class is almost eroded. The unbriddled impunity and culture of injustice have left sane minds to question the morality and capability of those who direct the ship of state.Deceits and maladministration have become the norm.A situation where the incumbent President looks the other way when his close persons in govt are accused or indicted for corruption does not augur well for good governance and accountability.A situation where the incumbent President cannot galvanise the execution of laws to have impact and serve as deterrent is to promote impunity. No meaningful development is possible with such paucity of good morals and conduct of the leadership. If you had been or currently a victim of our corrupt, unjust and obnoxious unworkable system then you would appreciate these posits.Buhari, therefore represents a phenomenon of change and true transformation.Does it matter that Buhari is a muslim, yet he ensures the system gaurantees jobs and food for the impoverished citizens? What relevance is his northern origin if he has the will and capacity to address corruption and impunity? Those who desire true transformation knows that it must start with an honest approach to stem the tide of corruption.Buharis antecedent is a test and trust of his capability to reduce this clog in the wheel of progress of our nation. In 1984 when he ruled as military head of state,Buhari exhibited actions that revealed his hatred for corruption and misrule. He was passionate about discipline and orderliness. He realized then that no nation can progress with corruption culture. His rule was cut short by those who wanted the deceitful and corrupt system to continue. So many years have passed and corruption remains a major problem. It is for corruption that people have become power drunk.Corruption has caused wastage of scarce and meagre resources;promoted mediocrity, injustice and insecurity with a few having the nations wealth in their hands.Buhari has a passion to lead and provide selfless service as reflected in his acceptance speech.A man who had opportunities to convert public funds to his own on several occasion, yet chose not to do so and evidently do not have amassed wealth or properties traced to him is the right candidate to lead this nation. His modesty and simplicity speaks volumes of his philosophy to life and value orientation. We need correctness, accountability and sanity of our entire system. It begins with a change of leadership and for sure Buhari is a most desired person at this critical stage of our nations history. It is the truth that must be told!
