IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE INFLUENCED BY RUMORS, HEARSAY, AND BIASED INFORMATION ON OUR PARTITION IN 1947 PLEASE READ THE PENGUIN COLLECTION Memories of Madness stories of 1947 of Khuswant Singh, Bhisam Sahni, and Sadat Hasan Manto............. Whether things in our lives happen by intentional choice or by accidental chance or predestined by our prarabdha that who the one can pronounce being certain. I the ignorant can only discuss a situation. Well back in 1994 I got a deputation from Khariar UGPHC to Komna SHC (now chc) against my comfort and will. One never gets a compensation, neither it is legal on the part of the CDMO. I was a very enthusiastic young man at that time. I do not remember the name of Mr Panigrahi from Komna who had a small dhaba at Bilianjari handed a book from a library, Manoj Panchabinsti a short story collection of Dronacharya Sri Manoj Das to help my boredom. Long before I read his Dura Durantara in 1982 borrowing from our newly started school hostel library whose librarian job was assigned to me. I did not return that book, hope it is still with me.( I have compensated) This Panchabinsati restarted my passion to read the great. There was(is) a Sahoo bookstore from which me or Mr Narendra Debata of Gramyabank did a competition to purchase the new arrivals of Manojsir so also all we demanded. Later on the book store kept two copies one for each. Hope he and me read all Odiya books of the great to which later on we added Surendra Mohanty, Gopinath Mohanty and FM. Thanks to the illigal deputation. Whenever I searched an English book penned by Manojsir I never got, may be it must have a purpose.......Recently on dt .30 . 06 . 2014 at Kolkata South City Mal once again I did not get his English book, I went on searching, took the help of sales men in vein. In a wrong section suddenly I noticed the book MEMORIES OF MADNESS stories of 1947. This was a very big catch. Three great writer`s strongly absorbing reading materials with reference to the riots of the partition of our civilization.Train to Pakistan by Sardar Khuswant Singh born in Hadli in Punjab 32 year at partition,Tamas the 1975 Sahitya academy winner novel by Bhisham Sahni (Balrajsir`s brother) born in Rawalpindi 32 years at partition, and strong short stories of Sadat Hasan Manto born in Ludhiana district 35 years at division one can never distinguish whether reading a same novel by same person with same characters and same happenings or of three writers. After reading Train... and Manto`s some stories the book got missing, again as usual my wife got it back and to finish 524 pages of very tiny font size it took such a long time and the flow never was lost. Thanks Penguinbooks the publisher. Let it settle down completely I can tell why each Indian of all faiths all political orientations all regions should read this collection of some greats who inhabited the most suffered area a SIKH a Hindu and a Muslim how the thinking men spoke the same thing without grudge or malice to any one. So once again I feel I was blessed and destined to read this that certainly shape me as a seculonational Indian.
