IF YOU PLAN ON SHOPPING TODAY READ THIS FIRST: I have heard many say that not shopping Black Friday through Cyber Monday wont make a difference in our response to #Ferguson. If you believe that then you dont understand your history. The civil rights movement was birthed, in large part, out of the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Yes, part of the argument was the rights of all blacks to sit anywhere on the bus. But the boycott lasted 13 months because organizers knew that if blacks wouldnt spend their money on the bus for those 13 months it would have an economic impact and let others know how serious they were. Therefore blacks not only withheld their finances but they sacrificed their time. Walking instead of riding. Getting up earlier and coming home later. The larger cause was bigger than the temporary inconvenience. What is disappointing is that for so many a TV, crock pot or a polo shirt is more important then coming along side a cause that is bigger than your narrow mind. P.S. What would really make a bold statement is if we didnt shop at all between now and the new year because this is the season that moves companies from red to black. Ending companies across the country in the red would make an even bolder statement. But I suppose thats just too revolutionary for some who cant even withhold until Monday. Something must change. Quickly. #StayWoke #KnowYourHistory #ThereIsAMethodToTheMadness #OhAndGoodMorning
