IFA Super Sunday Bangor vs St.Oliver Plunkett Todays match at mallusk playing fields showed again why the girls are unbeaten in 9 games. With the under 16s only having 11 players available it was going to be a tough test to keep their high intensity attacking performance going until the final whistle. The game started scrappy with the aggression of plunkett stopping us from building anything substantial in attack. During the early exchanges we did manage to create a number of chances but the big plunkett keeper was making some great saves. The girls knew she would take some beating which happened on 13mins with lauren ritchie play the ball through to Allie forcing a good save from the keeper and hannah willis scored from the resulting rebound. The pressure continued with bangor taking full control of the first half and Rebecca mckenna managing to poke home a second well deserved goal for bangor. In the second half a change in formation saw Rebecca mckenna switched to the right wing where she then put in a performance that would eventually earn her player of the match. She managed to beat 3 players and smash the ball home again. Further chances fell to the strikers but they couldnt put them away. The match then faded away as bangor became more tired and plunkett got a bit more of a foothold in the game they managed their first shot nearly catching Joy cold with a lob but the young keeper easily gathered the ball in the end. Another great experience for the girls as they prepare for senior football next year. And well done to plunkett who have showed a massive improvement since the last time the teams met.
