IGNOU ENTRANCE EXAMS The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has invited applications for admission to various distance-education programmes. Selection is through entrance examinations to be held on September 8. Management programmes: MBA; diploma and postgraduate diploma in Management; and postgraduate diploma courses in Human Resource Management, Financial Management, Operations Management, Marketing Management and Financial Market Practice. Graduates in any discipline with 50 per cent marks (45 per cent for reserved categories) with three years of managerial, supervisory or professional experience or those with professional degrees with 50 per cent marks in Engineering, Medicine, Chartered Accountancy, Cost and Work Accountancy, Company Secretaryship and Law are eligible to appear for the test. Post Basic Nursing: Entry qualification for the three-year course is a diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery with minimum two years’ experience in case of those who have passed Plus Two and five years for those who have passed only the 10th standard. Application forms and details for the two courses can be downloaded from ignou.ac.in, and the completed application form, along with documents, should be sent to the Registrar (SED), IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi – 110 068 by registered post so as to reach there on or before August 8. A two-year B.Ed. programme is offered using self-instructional materials and IT, along with interactive personal contact programmes. It comprises theoretical and practical sessions to develop the teacher’s knowledge and skills, understanding and attitudes. The course, approved by the National Council for Teacher Education, is offered in training colleges in the country. Teachers with a degree in any discipline with 50 per cent marks (45 per cent) and minimum two years’ teaching experience in recognised schools are eligible to apply. Two-year M.Ed. programme: Those with a B.Ed. degree with 55 per cent marks (50 per cent) and two years’ teaching experience after B.Ed. in recognised schools are eligible to apply. Only working teachers will be considered. Application forms and details can be downloaded from ignou.ac.in and the completed application, along with documents, should be submitted to the regional centres of IGNOU for the B.Ed. and the M.Ed. courses. The last date for receipt of applications is August 8. There is no age limit. All these programmes have a multimedia design and technology-aided delivery systems and these are offered through a countrywide network of study centres. A demand draft or Indian postal order for Rs. 1,050 in favour of IGNOU payable in New Delhi or in the place of the regional centre (as the case may be) should be attached along with the application form.
