IIT Kanpur professor Dheeraj Sanghi writes on his personal blog about how the new UGC ruling on the nomenclature of higher education degrees may affect Dual Degree programs in the IITs. The ruling states that a program that offers two degrees should have a duration equivalent to the sum of the individual components. Therefore, Dual Degree programs will have to be six-year programs.
