IKMNs Instructor in Training Chris Panzerfaust about his experience this week: Like most of the students of Institute Krav Maga Netherlands, I met Tomasz Adamcyk for the first time at an IKMN seminar in February 2012 in the Netherlands. The subject of focus of this seminar was extreme self-defense. From the first moment, it was clear that a seminar with Mr. Adamcyzk is different than others. Besides the usual protection gear, participants of the seminar were asked to bring unconventional things like an old heavy duty jacket (military- or jeans jacket for example) and a folding chair. To me this seminar was different from what I was used to at the time. I had never trained some of these subjects before. My impression of this seminar was mind-blowing. The subject matter such as special focus on CQB (close quarters battle), training techniques under high levels of stress, training from uncomfortable disadvantaged positions, hard-to-defend counter attacks and the utilization of clothing in a violent confrontation were remarkably different. In my opinion, this seminar was pretty exemplary for the holistic, reality-based Krav Maga approach of Tomasz Adamczyk. His methods of teaching and his focus on subjects are divergent. The visit of Mr. Adamczyk back in 2012 had a big impact on the training methods the following months at Institute Krav Maga Netherlands. Thanks to head instructor of Institute Krav Maga Netherlands, Heath Leavitt, we integrated several of these innovative training techniques immediately in our regular self-defense classes. While I was at a master class in London in December 2012 that was taught by Eyal Yanilov and Tomasz Adamczyk, Tomasz announced the establishment of the United Krav Maga World Organization. I was really curious about what this organization would be all about and had to offer. Since the end of 2014, Institute Krav Maga Netherlands is (proudly) affiliated with United Krav Maga World Organisation. I am very happy and thankful to Heath & Kirsten that IKMN became part of this organization. This year, after four years of consistent training and hard work at the IKMN headquarters and other locations, I had the opportunity and privilege to attend United Krav Magas civilian instructors course. I was really honored and pleased that the first part of this course was conducted by the president of United Krav Maga World Organization, master Tomasz Adamczyk himself. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity for such superb training. Now I start getting an idea of what United Krav Maga is all about. Apart from my regular training at IKMN, I have a participated in numerous seminars, training camps, special training events, masterclasses, etc. in Europe during the last 4 years. In this short period of time, I have met many different instructors from different countries and organisations. They all helped me improve my skills in self-defense training and educated me well, but so far no one has impressed me personally and technically as much as Tomasz Adamczyk did. I want to thank Tomek for his outstanding innovative teaching and for sharing his experience and making the first part of the instructors course such a big happening for all of us at Institute Krav Maga Netherlands. From methodological, tactical and technical aspect I couldn’t wish for more. The no-nonsense, reality-based self defense approach of United Krav Maga is exactly what I cherish most and why I still love to train at IKMN: Excellent professional self defense training in a friendly but highly demanding, hard working club environment where everybody is constantly improving his/her level under supervision and with great support of the group. Thank You Heath! Personally, besides other very specific dynamic training methods and the home security aspects which are really unique to United, I really value the equal treatment of each other. We are really family, UNITED!
