IM NOT ONE TO GIVE UP. Those that really know me know that Im tenacious almost to a fault. Today, singing teacher extraordinaire Badiene Magaziner gave me a lesson. About 5 minutes into the lesson, Badiene turned to Marya Coburn and says hes tone deaf and then looked back at me and said maybe you should stick to acting. This explains why when I sing with her accompanist Bobby DeLeon, Marya yells at me to listen to the notes hes playing. Well guess what, I listen but I dont hear! I worked hard at riding horses. 7 days a week, 5 to 8 horses a day. Countless lessons and horse shows for years until I could call myself world class. Same with acting. 3 acting classes a week, countless workshops and years on the stage to get me to the point Im at today. It was the same with racing motorcycles and bicycles. Lots and lots of miles on the bike and races every weekend. I was a pretty good pro motocrosser and I rode in the 09 Mountain Bike Masters World Championships. So I guess theres only one thing to do. Scales, Scales and more Scales. Practice, Practice, Practice and maybe somehow I will sing well enough to stand up in front of a crowd and sing a handful of beautiful songs. I keep daunting company, many of our friends are Broadway performers and I hung with some of Rock n Rolls greats when I lived in LA. Marya is a fabulous singer and performer whos filled NY nightclubs, and as if I dont have enough to live up to, Marya dated Frank Sinatra, hung out with Elvis and also dated Tony Bennett and Robert Goulet!! I dont expect to fill those shows, but maybe I can get into their slippers someday. Until I get there, Ill continue to polish my Academy Award speech and shelve the Grammy speech for now. Marya and I fully endorse Badiene Magaziner Vocal Studio and if you need world class vocal training, tell her we sent you. Shes good and obviously unlike so many other teachers, Badiene tells you what you need to hear and not just what you want to hear .
