IM ON THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS for St. Patrick Haven, a shelter for homeless men. Were blessed to be the recipient charity for Roar on the Shore this year. Im sitting in the VIP about to enjoy the show today and a homeless person comes through with a cart. The looks this person got from some was typical. I thought to myself, This is what were raising money to address! 70% of the men we serve are U.S. MILITARY VETERANS! They sacrificed for the greater good! Theres a story behind every tragic situation. Taking time to tap into the suffering of others, with the goal of trying to understand, can be helpful towards building our compassion. Many of us are too prideful to admit it, but the average average American would be in serious duress if they missed JUST ONE paycheck. As the old saying goes, There, but by the grace of God, go I! #thinkaboutit
