IMDB boards have critisized 12 Years a Slave for white shaming. I did not find that at all. I found it to trancend racial issues. The film takes on greed, power, complacency and corruption too often found in our nature as human beings. While the film is not without flaws, I appreciated the focus on our ability as people to choose hope and dignity under any circumstance. Ive now watched 3 of the 9 films nominated for a Best Picture Oscar. So far, this is my vote for best picture. Well see if the next 6 films can change my mind.
