IMFL recap. Car alternator died and killed battery day before the race. Luckily the Panama City Toyota people were great and got my car back to me by 4 pm. race day-- dbl black flags bad winds and rip currents canceled the swim. Kept a decent pace against the 20-25 mph winds. Crashed at mile 50 rest stop. Somewhere in there my watch messed up so what I did do isnt recorded well. Good to know I and my Rudy helmet can bounce. Got the chain back on the bike and kept going. Didnt see the broken front brake till mile 53 ish. Grabbed my mid bike bag breathed for a minute, drank my recovery drink and did a body check--- it said we are good to go so go we did. I couldnt get my left foot clipped in and after a mile I stopped to examine my shoe. My spacers had gotten bent up so I spent another 5 minutes in the grass with straight edge from my tire kit and got the bent pieces off. The second half of the bike was good. Had a little wind to my back for once except one small 5 mile out and back. Once I got back to transition and had to walk to change, I realized I had really hurt my left groin muscle. I could barely walk. I changed and took some medicine and figured it would get better once I walked it off. I walked first 2 miles, asked and got some prayers and did a little jogging.13-14 minute miles. I couldnt fast walk either.by mile 8 I couldnt even jog, I tried to do the time math since I was slowing down with my hobble, called Jeremy, and decided to stop and try again next year. I had to wait by a fire pit for a Atv to come get me for 30 minutes. And to top it all off, we see the next day that some person barfed at my front left tire in the parking garage. I am signed up for next year because I liked the bike course and the run course, and I would have liked the ocean swim. I will probably do IM Texas this year just because I dont want to wait 12 months to be an ironman. I want to thank all my ETT family and friends(I cant list everyones names or it would take a whole page.) and my regular family and friends for all your support, prayers, and encouragement. I am not broken over this hurdle because as training days go, 112 mile ride with monster winds and a negative bike split, I did well.
