IMMEDIATE RELEASE No. 238-95 May 03, 1995 REMAINS OF DEFENSE INVESTIGATIVE SERVICE PERSONNEL RECOVERED IN OKLAHOMA CITY The Defense Investigative Service has announced that the remains of all five personnel killed in the bombing of the Federal building in Oklahoma City have been recovered. Special Agent in Charge Robert G. Westberry, 57; Special Agents Harley R. Cottingham, 47; Peter L. DeMaster, 44; and Larry L. Turner, 42; and Secretary Norma Jean Johnson, 62, who were in the Oklahoma City Investigative Field Office of DIS on April 19, were killed in the bombing. All five civilian employees were residents of the Oklahoma City area. Commenting on this loss, Director of the Defense Investigative Service John F. Donnelly said, "These five outstanding professionals, each of whom was highly respected and regarded, will truly be missed. To lose people for any reason hurts, but to lose them by way of such an evil and sinister deed as this explosion, is tragic." Director Donnelly also extended his gratitude to the rescuers who worked in very difficult circumstances to locate the victims as well as the people of Oklahoma City for their personal warmth and assistance during a time of tragedy. The Defense Investigative Service is responsible for personnel and industrial security for the Department of Defense. The Oklahoma City office has been reestablished at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, and is being staffed by agents who were out of the building at the time of the explosion and reassigned personnel.
