IMMIGRATION PROPOSAL BY REPUBLICAN COULD CREATE PATHWAY FOR UP TO 6.5 MILLION Recently, Representative Bob Goodlatte of Virginia, a Republican who is chairman of the House Judiciary Committee and a major voice on immigration reform, said that he would offer a provisional legal status to illegal immigrants, then allow those who demonstrate eligibility to apply for a green card. This would come through the existing system, based on sponsorship by an employer or family and could legalize as many as 6.5 million undocumented immigrants. These numbers assume the House would pass legislation that would allow young undocumented immigrants who came to the United States when they were children, known as DREAMers. This is all positive momentum hinting that reform might actually break through this year. Speaker John A. Boehner of Ohio has said that Mr. Goodlatte is helping him prepare principles that will guide the House to action on the issue THIS year. PLEASE WATCH FOR MORE INFORMATION SOON.
