IMNAHA, OR - The Five Mile Fire, located 20 miles northeast of Enterprise in the Imnaha River drainage, is currently over 1,000 acres in size, burning in steep terrain in grass and timber. It is located approximately two miles south of the town of Imnaha between the Imnaha River to the west, Hat Point Road to the East, High Camp Creek to the North, and Rippleton Creek to the South. From Wallowa-Whitman National Forest: Initial attack resources include: two Single Engine Air Tankers (SEATs), two Type I helicopters, one heavy air tanker, one VLAT (very large air tanker), four engines, and one dozer. The fire is burning in very rugged terrain and difficult to attack with ground crews. A Type II Team, Oregon Team 3 with Incident Commander Doug Johnson, is arriving late Monday, August 4th, to assume command of the fire either tomorrow evening or Tuesday morning. CLOSURE: The Hat Point Road #4240 is closed. Wallowa County has closed the Upper Imnaha Road to the public, open to private landowners only. Structures are potentially threatened in the town of Imnaha and in the Imnaha River drainage. In addition, the Idaho Power transmission line is imminently threatened. NOTE: Hurricane Creek Fire continues to be active in this warm weather, and continues to move south into the Eagle Cap Wilderness.
