IMPORTANT: Here is a copy of an email sent to Garfield by a Parent re: Bill 10 AND Garfields response to the parent: To whom it may concern, The following is in regards to Bill 10, The Child Care Modernization Act, and its proposed changes. Please, before you act, take into consideration many things, such as: -Us parents. Particularly single parents. Not everyone has had the opportunity to educate themselves and land a good paying g job. Many struggle, living paycheck to paycheck to provide the basic needs for their family, and to achieve this they require an affordable child care provider. -Our children. Why upset something that is stable? A stimulating and familiar environment and faces. Routine. Comfort. We all want whats best for our children. Theyre our future. I including yours. Sometimes change is not tolerated well by some. Why fix something that isnt broken? -Quality. Honesty. Trust. Its a very difficult challenge for us to find someone who we trust to provide the best quality care to our children. Knowing that when you close that door, our children will be comfortable, safe and with all their needs being met. So once again, please put yourself in our shoes and respect that any changes that may take place will have a negative effect on so many. Thanks for your time. Garfield Dunlops Reply Email: Thank you for your email. As you know Bill 10 was up for second reading Wednesday here at Queen’s Park. Throughout my consultation with stakeholders over the summer and through discussion with the PC Caucus we have come to a firm decision to not support Bill 10. The PC party will not stand by and watch this bill cripple the child care industry. I have asked the government to delay committee hearings and to travel the committee all over Ontario so that every voice that is affected by this bill can and will be heard.
