ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA AND EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS FOR M.Phil./PhD A minimum of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) will be required at the Master’s level in the concerned subject for General/OBC category. Relaxation of 5% is applicable at the Master’s level for SC/ST categories. 2. PATTERN OF ENTRANCE TEST • Students shall have to take a written examination consisting of two sections. Section I: Aptitude Test and General Knowledge (20 marks) and Section II: Subject test, based on Post Graduate syllabus of the concerned subject (80 marks). Total marks: 100. • The two parts shall contain 20 and 80 objective type questions (Multiple Choice Questions). • The students shall be allowed a maximum of two hours time to complete the test. • Qualifying cutoff marks in entrance test: 50%: General/OBC; 45%: SC/ST. • All the candidates who qualify entrance test will be called for interview along with the candidates exempted from the written test (NET/SLET/ UGC Research Fellow, M.Phil. from HNB Garhwal University only). • The JRF (NET) passed candidates and teacher fellows will be counted against additional seats, which will be allocated to each department. • Following will be the Assessment Index of 100 marks: a. Academic Career : Distribution of 50 marks will be following: i. UG -20% of total marks obtained ii. PG -30% of total marks obtained b. Performance in interview : 50 marks The result of M.Phil./Ph.D. entrance test shall be valid for admission for 2014-2015 academic session only. 3. HOW TO APPLY: Apply online through the university web site for online applications hnbguedrp.in or hnbgu.ac.in OR Application forms can be obtained in person free of cost from the cash counter of the University or from the Office of The Coordinator, Entrance Test, Administrative Block, HNB Garhwal University, Srinagar-Garhwal, 246 174. OR Application Form(s) can be downloaded from the University website hnbgu.ac.in or hnbguedrp.in Duly completed hard copy of offline application forms should be sent by speed post/registered post to “The Coordinator (Entrance Test), Administrative Block, H.N.B. Garhwal University (A Central University), Srinagar-Garhwal 246 174, Uttarakhand” with the proof of deposited prescribed fee by bank challan. Superscribe the envelope as “Application for admission to ..................................................(Name of the PhD program)”. Application form shall not be accepted after the due date. University will not be responsible for any postal delay. 4. HOW TO DEPOSIT FEE: Fee can be deposited in the University Account No: 33746581414 in the name of Power Jyoti Current Account of State Bank of India, SrinagarGarhwal, Uttarakhand, (IFSC Code: SBIN 0010583) from any computerized branch of State Bank of India. Bank draft will not be accepted. Fee for Offline Application: GEN/OBC: Rs 600/- SC/ST/PH: Rs 300/- Fee for online Application: GEN/OBC: Rs 500/- SC/ST/PH: Rs 250/- 5. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLICANTS: • Certified copies of testimonials in support of educational qualification, eligibility, date of birth, caste category and certificates for exempted category like NET/SLET/M.Phil/UGC Teacher Fellow must be attached with the form along with two self addressed envelopes of 12 cm X 10 cm size. • Recent passport size self attested colored photographs should be pasted at the appropriate boxes in the form duly. • Merely qualifying in the entrance test does not guarantee admission in any programme, as admission to particular program is subject to the availability of seats in that programs and fulfilling other conditions. • The result of entrance test shall be valid for admission for the current academic session only. • Incomplete and application form received after the due date will be rejected. University will not be responsible for any postal delay. • The medium for written test will be English for subjects under Schools of Sciences, Life Sciences, Agriculture and Allied Sciences, School of Management, School of Earth Sciences (Excluding Geography, Defense and Strategic Studies) and medium for rest of the subjects in other schools will blingual excluding languages • M.Phil courses are running only in English and Environmental Plant Biology and candidates who have done M.Phil in these subjects from HNB Garhwal University are only exempted from appearing in the PhD entrance test in the concerned subjects only but they have to apply online / offline on prescribed form with fee before the last date.
