IMPORTANT: Joining this event does not commit you to buying an at-risk captive wild burro or donating funds. This is an awareness building campaign. Joining is a sign of your social support. Launch date: August 25, 2014 (11:58 PM) Re: KEEP AMERICAS WILD BURROS IN AMERICA THE PROBLEM: BLM is planning to ship 100 burros to Guatemala where they will be used as beasts of burden (and possibly worse). The burros targeted for this plan are burros who are victims of BLMs three strikes policy, meaning that theyve been offered for adoption for $125.00 each three times without being adopted. That qualfies the burros as sale authority animals, meaning that they can now be sold without restrictions for $25.00 each. Because of the tremendous risk to the burros of over-use, abuse, neglect, starvation, theft, and slaughter, this campaign has been launched to save the burros from the fate planned for them by BLM. THE SOLUTION: WE CAN BUY THE BURROS! People who would like to help with our effort to stop BLMs sale of 100 burros to Guatemala citizens to be used as beasts of burden can PURCHASE up to FOUR of the burros* (PURCHASING is a different process and form from regular BLM ADOPTION process). Again, you canl PURCHASE burros for $25.00 each, rather than ADOPT burros for $125.00 each- although adopting a BLM is still an option for anyone who prefers to adopt, of course. *Purchase of more than four burros is possible, but required additional approvals from BLM. To start the process, EMAIL me (Elaine Nash) at HoldYourHorses@aol, and I will reply with the FORM you need to fill out. You will need to SCAN that form and EMAIL it back to me ASAP. DO NOT SEND IT DIRECTLY TO BLM. (NOTE: If you absolutely cannot scan and email to me, you my FAX your completed apps to 503-482-5653, but please also let me know via email (HoldYourHorses@aol) that you have submitted an application, the number requested, and where you live. TRANSPORTATION: Fleet of Angels will assist will the delivery of burros in every case possible by helping coordinate low cost transporters. In order to transport for the lowest costs possible, we will need to group as many burros as possible together for at least the longest portions of each trip. TPP may also be able to assist with funds for transporting ndividual burros by local transporters from the drop centers that we establish for this effort, to their homes. The Platero Project (an HSUS project) will assist with funding burro transportations when possible, especially for the larger group transports. **** On the questions about truck and trailer on the form, write: Our burros will be transported through Fleet of Angels (FleetOfAngels.org) in approved trailers, coordinated through The Platero Project/HSUS. DONATE TO FUEL FUND (URGENT!): In order for this mission to be successful, the burros have to be transported from western states to all over the US to their new homes. As we all know, fuel costs are very high. Fleet of Angels transporters are all committed to transporting at-risk equines for the lowest possible rate, but the cost of fuel has to be covered in every case. If you can assist with these delivery costs, please send to FleetOfAngelsOrg@aol through PayPal. If you prefer to send funds via mail, please contact Elaine Nash at HoldYourHorses@aol for a mailing address. THANK YOU to all who are assisting with this effort! * * Fleet of Angels is a registered non-profit. Tax exempt status is in progress. Donations will be retroactivly deductible when 501c3 status is approved.
