IMPORTANT MEETING TONIGHT!!! You are invited to learn more! The Friends of the Salem Bike-Ped Corridor will hold a public information session in the Salem Town Hall "William Knightly Room" (downstairs) on Monday, June 17 from 7-9 pm. After the presentation and update on the current construction status, an open Q&A period is scheduled. Bring your friends, co-workers, and all interested parties to learn the details behind the project and help us make progress! We are at a critical point in the project and need all the help we can find. A “Friends” Steering Committee is being formed to assist with publicity, volunteer assistance and fundraising. Salem taxpayers and the State of NH are not funding this project. We need to raise $170,000 by June 24 for the 25% match to secure the authorized Transportation Enhancement grant. We have $94,000 available now but time is running out to obtain the remaining $76,000. You may have noticed that work has resumed on this project after stopping for the winter and "mud season." To learn about the funding requirements and construction plans for this season and beyond, please attend this first public meeting of the "Friends". We plan to hold monthly meetings to coordinate volunteer efforts and publicity as we make the old rail corridor into a first-class bike-ped facility "For Everyone, Everyday" -- and at no cost to Salem taxpayers.
