**IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR ALL AUSTRALIAN FLYBALLERS** 2014 AFA AGM – Member Motion for show of hands ballot at AGM. 1. Motion “to introduce a “Open Format Category” in Australian Flyball Racing using the rules shown below”: Explanation: The objective of Open racing is to allow AFA members in geographically challenging locations, or on holidays, or wanting to compete more, to be able to travel and form / join another team on a one off basis. It could also encourage flyball activities in some smaller regional dog clubs if they are able to race without a whole team to start with. This format has been in place for some time in the USA and now is a Racing Class of its own, we however do not have the members required to have a different class of racing, like Veterans. With the correct rules in place to prevent abuse and after some consultation with NAFA Board members I have come up with the following rule changes which I believe will encourage more flyball racing and greater competition within the AFA Proposed Rules for Open Format racing : 1. There cannot be a competition within 100km’s of the entrant’s home address on the same date as the competition entered. 2. The CRN for an ‘OPEN’ dog must have an ‘X’ added to the end of it on the entry form. 3. The ‘Handler’ section of a competition entry must also have the STATE and SUBURB of an open entrant, to verify to the competition organizer that the entrant is valid from a location viewpoint. 4. Any time that beaks an Australian Record will only be counted as the new OPEN Record. 5. Teams with Open entrants will be given a 2 second break out (Due to the lack of possibilities to get an accurate ‘Team Time’) 6. All Open teams must be lodged and appear with the suffix ‘OPEN’ on any competition paperwork. 7. A member shall apply to the AFA Committee for special permission to enter as an Open entrant if the 100km requirement is not meet, but this must be done a minimum of 60 days prior to the close of entries for the competition in question. 8. The 90 day rule (Section 2.4) does not apply. 9. All other rules of racing apply.
