IMPORTANT MESSAGE! (Please read - Thanks. Marsha) It has come to my attention that there are members of our site who have recently been thoughtless to the point that we are losing our reputation as a place of safety. This really hurts my heart and is so, so unnecessary. If I learn who has been doing this they will be immediately blocked from the site. Our Site Rules (see below) clearly state as Rule #3: While reading the posts following a member question if you see someones answer that you feel is rude or downright mean, please private message the Administrators to alert them. Let them know the subject matter, when it posted and the name of the person whose comments you think need monitoring. Do not take it upon yourself to start a flame session on the posting against the person with whom you disagree. Remember once again that ALL of us are in pain. Sensitivity runs high on some days for some of us. One rude comment to a person posting, even if it is one against a hundred positive ones, can ruin a persons day or worse. People sometimes go into week long depressions when they feel they have been disrespected. Give your opinion on the original post, elaborate on others ideas, but dont use phrases like Well thats just stupid! ...also Rule #8 states: If something offends you, please let us know. We are willing to be the buffer between you and another member who are butting heads if necessary to calm and explain things. Our goal is to have everyone comfortable and supported. We do not take sides; however anyone who consistantly disregards these rules will be blocked from the site. Unfortunately I missed the flaming session and it has only now been drawn to my attention. This is some of what happened as I understand it: There is someone (or more than one person) on the site who recently flamed another page follower for using medication to alleviate their pain. This person berated our fellow CPI Sister for choosing to use medication sparingly or not at all. A member who has had multiple surguries was made to feel disrespected by her statement that she was choosing to make meds a low priority for her own pain management plan. A sarcastic remark was made about her addiction problem and she was questioned whether she was a real chronic pain sufferer at all! As I have said dozens of times, we each have our own combination of symptoms and situations and the decision we made for our own pain mangement should be respected and supported. Being there for a fellow sufferer when they ask for opinions or advice in trying a certain medication or getting off a certain medication, trying accupunture, marijuana, etc. is one thing when done with compassion and understanding... telling the brother or sister that they are not real or addicted is NOT! Please respond to this post, and let me know what you think. Also again if you see where a person has been cruel in this manner to one of our members let me know where the comment was seen and the name of the person. If I think the person has been misguided I will speak with them. If they have been hateful, theyre out of here. Hopefully this doesnt offend anyone. I just really, really, really want this page to be of respect, consideration and support for all of us. Thanks for understanding. Marsha
