IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE POLAR EXPRESS™ at the Monticello Railway Museum: Due to circumstances beyond our control, we are withdrawing the deluxe table-for-four class of tickets that were to go on sale with the opening of sales for The Polar Express™ at 12:01 a.m. Sunday. Our mechanical department had anticipated having the restored Illinois Central dining car ready for The Polar Express™, but this week we had some major setbacks that will require work both by our volunteers and by outside contractors. The schedule by which needed supplies are delivered to the Museum and the timetable by which needed work will be performed by outside contractors is out of our control. Because we do not have 100% confidence that this work can be accomplished on time and to our exacting specifications, our general manager made the decision that the Museum can not in good conscience offer you, our loyal customers, deluxe accommodations which we are not certain will be ready for you. We deeply regret this decision, but we would not feel right selling you tickets for deluxe table seating, and then having to cancel, long after coach seats sold out. At this time, The Polar Express™ will be a coach-only event, as in past years. Rest assured that the withdrawal of the deluxe seating option does NOT affect coach seating; the same number of coach seats planned will be made available at midnight Sunday. We regret having to make this decision. It is as disappointing for us as we know it is for you, but well be happy to welcome you in coach class as we always have in the past.
