IMPORTANT UPDATE: As may be known among our music community, Thriftys is run by people with a long history in the music industry. They are very knowledgeable about what it takes to make it in the music field/industry and I have been discussing many things with them lately as we round out our first month of holding concerts in their venue. Things are going very well and new plans are being made, particularly as to a combination full band/open mike session on Saturday (not yet scheduled). They have also formed up some standards of what they expect from bands that are booked with them and I would like to share them with you: 1. All bands that are booked at Thriftys need to have a Facebook profile page (for their band/acoustic act). Personal pages are not sufficient. Almost all of our bands/acts have so this is no real issue. 2. All bands that are booked at Thriftys need to make a Facebook event for their appearance at the concert and need to invite what people they would reasonably expect would want to go to the concert. This event would be handled through the bands Facebook page as described above, as per standard. 3. A link to said event with said reasonable invites must be send to myself (Sadi Khan) or to our message inbox here at this page. 4. As a result of this TJF reserves the right to withdraw a concert spot confirmation (or to not confirm it at all in the first place) at Thriftys until the above requirements are satisfied. Now, I personally think that any band/act that is even remotely serious about being successful would do this without even being asked and most of our acts (to my knowledge) do so. I have not in the past been dealing with any kind of structured system to support this kind of basic promotion but honestly I probably should have. This policy DOES NOT mean that there is a minimum draw required; that is actually against TJFs internal policies and I wouldnt tolerate that. The notion of making a reasonable attempt however is a matter of professionalism - which TJF is all about - and will help develop our music community in a more effective manner.
