IN A WORLD WITHOUT LOVE WE MUST WALK IN LOVE MATTHEW 24:12 ‘and because lawlessness will abound the love of many will grow cold.’ My dearly beloved friends, the Lord Jesus gave us two basic commands to follow for our daily lives. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind and love your neighbour as yourself (Matthew 22:37-39). Love for God means obedience to His word (John 14:15) and loving others means Faith in action which is exhibited through selfless care, compassion, kindness, concern and giving for others (James 3:14-18). But beloved the Lord is telling us in Matthew 24:12 before He comes a second time the love of many will grow cold. Yes love for the Lord and love for people will begin to vanish. We are seeing that happen in increasing proportion today. Why is this happening? 1 John 3:10-11 ‘In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother. For this is the message that you heard from the beginning that we should love one another.’ Love is a nature, quality and behavior natural and unique to God and hence it is a godly character. The devil does not have love in him. The devil comes to only steal, rob and destroy lives. When sin increases in the lives of people, satan’s influence also increases. When satan’s influence increases his nature starts to manifest forth in the lives of people. That is why you see so much heartless events happening today that we have never ever heard before in the news. What is the nature of the devil? 2 Timothy 3:1-5, in the last days it says it will be perilous times and men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. These all are the behaviours and attitudes of satan himself which become operative in the lives of people when they become a slave to sin and continue to live in sin. My dear friends this is why 2 Corinthians 6:17 says to come out from among them and be separate and 2 Thessalonians 5:22 says to abstain from every form of evil and 1 Timothy 4:1 says to exercise yourself toward godliness. Because if you allow sin to take hold of your life and govern you; very soon the nature of satan which is a loveless nature is going to spring out from you and you are going to be like the world and miss the rapture. The Lord Jesus said in Matthew 5:48 ‘Be perfect just as your Father in Heaven is perfect.’ Perfect in what? Perfect in love (Matthew 5:38-47). So let us all strive to have the loving nature and holy nature of the Lord Jesus always in us and daily love the Lord with all our heart and love those around us as with the same compassionate love of Jesus. Then we will truly enjoy the presence of the Lord in our lives daily and be a light shining for Him on this earth.
