IN BRIEF: DAO official arrested HIMALAYAN NEWS SERVICE KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority arrested Chhabiram Kafle, a non-gazetted first-class official of Kathmandu District Administration Office, with Rs 30,000 which he had received as a bribe on Thursday. Stating that he had received Rs 30,000 from Sabin Thakurathi, an accused in arms and ammunition case, the anti graft body arrested Kafle on Thursday afternoon. The amount was recovered from his office drawer. But he has claimed that the amount was ‘forcefully’ handed to him even though he ‘was not ready to accept it’. Corruption case filed KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority on Thursday filed a corruption case at the Special Court against Investigation Officer Rajan Thapa Magar and Senior Investigating Assistant Bisheswor Aryal of National Investigation Department. They were caught red-handed while receiving Rs 75,000 from two persons willing to fly to New Zealand. They had taken the money promising that they would help acquire work permit for New Zealand for them from the Department of Labour, CIAA said in a statement today. A CIAA team had nabbed the duo on August 20. ‘Implement laws’ kathmandu: Chief of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority Lokman Singh on Thursday told concerned authorities to effectively implement anti-human trafficking laws. He praised the role of Maiti Nepal which has been playing a significant role to rescue and rehabilitate victims of human trafficking.
