IN DEFENCE OF JAMAICAN MEN - I had a friend tell me this weekend that she will no longer date Jamaican men because they are users and conmen, ginnals, players and they are not serious about long term relationships. Me, being a Jamaican male, took offence to her statement. I consider me to be one of those few good men ... but on the flip side, SOME Jamaican women, OMG! For such a small country, the impact of Jamaica can be seen, felt, tasted and heard in almost every corner of the globe. Who can’t sing along to at least one Bob Marley song can recognize the red, green and gold of the Jamaica Rasta Colors. They can also recognize the fact that Jamaican men have been wearing a stereotype of promiscuity and ginalship for as far back as I can remember. But believe me when I tell you that there are some dangerous con-women lurking around … and hiding out in FaceBook. I buck up on a few and I can tell my fellow brothers what warning signs to look for so they can identify them. Believe it or not, most of them are brilliant beautiful women who you least expect. Dem very outspoken but dem speak ambiguously so yu have to wonder what dem mean even though yu already know. Look for these signs... Beware of Pushiness, Control Issues and Anger Dem call yu shukums, sweetie, etc so dem wont mek a mistake an call yu wrong name Dem tell yu about other men to create competition and jealousy, mek yu step up... Dem tun off dem phone when dem busy a Bruck it Dung Dem comment on everyting yu post so odda women can notice Dem share yu conversation wid dem frien and make you out to be di stalker …. and di list does on. So be careful who you befriend in FaceBook and in Real Life. Yu nevva know who is who. Amyway, saying all of dat … let me pour a drink and raise a toast to the Female Ginals. Life’s harsh teachers who encourage us to laugh at our mistakes and move forward with caution. Who teach us to be flexible and how to think on our feet. Who hold our hands and help us (drag us) through times of deceitful changes. Life would be boring without them. My brothers … oonu watch out for female wolves wearing sheeps skin are on the prowl. Arooooooooooooo (wolf howl!)
