IN LESS THAN TWENTY FOUR HOURS after I left Tokyo for Osaka - TopicsExpress

IN LESS THAN TWENTY FOUR HOURS after I left Tokyo for Osaka last Sunday (May 4 2014), a 6.3 magnitude, early morning earthquake roused up its residents. If I was there, most likely I will have instinctively grabbed the standby helmet at the headboard as well as the earthquake backpack kit in the closet. According to Wikipedia, Japan experiences approximately 400 earthquakes every day; although many of these can only be detected by special apparatus. But the nation is expecting a truly huge one in the near future. I hope it won’t be so near though! See: factsanddetails/japan/cat26/sub160/item2768.html Last night, I watched NHK news on a computer-simulated tsunami effect if such an earthquake does happen. It says that right away, a 30-meter (90 feet) tsunami would swallow the coastal area of many prefectures. Even Philippines won’t be spared as an 8-meter-high tsunami will also hit it in just a matter of four hours from the time the earthquake occurs. SCARY! But come to think of it, actually death has always been just around the corner wherever we find ourselves in. And so we just have to make the most of this day - for tomorrow may not come. God bless…
