Madonna and Child at Safeway: Gary Smith From the Ten Directions: Lesley Lebkowicz Smother: Karina Quinn Finding Ourselves: Rhonda Poholke The View from a Balcony in Noosa: Avril Bradley American Love Poem: Brett Dionysius afterthought: Lucy Williams Drought: Roberta Lowing Wreck: Carmel MacDonald-Grahame Brian: Debi Hamilton Eve and the Snake: Nola Firth Waiting for the Lights to Change: Debi Hamilton Lakeside: Isi Unikowski AND THE WINNER WAS : Carmel MacDonald-Grahame… Excellent event including readings from several prizewinners (Avril, Lucy, Debi (two gongs), Nola, & Carmel). Longer (for ex., Wreck) & shorter poems defied formulae. All good to hear. Poems by absent/interstate poets were read by poets in the room including Anne Elvey & Sunyata. Poor old Kevin Brophy had apparently taken a tumble during the day, suffering broken ribs, and couldnt attend to present his own judges report. David Francis filled in for him. Good wishes to Kevin for speedy recovery. Eddie Creeney won the hamper in the raffle! Sunyata Cousins rang the very special bell & was our buoyant MC as well as snapping the photographs wchll be posted soon. Poetry always requires good wine, cheese, grapes, s/wiches, and so it was! We hope everyone enjoyed themselves.
