IN MY VILLAGE In my village, the seasonal rain have reached its menopause the dust now cements our leaking roofs- the yam in my fathers farm has yielded new breasts, As the children peep through their wooden windows under the gay night when the harvest of voices chase the dreams of another four seasons. In my village, the priests now quote scriptures to win our supports- and we spread our confused teeth to be baptized by their unbaked truth, they turn a fresh lease of life when our supports have won them the seats. In my village, you will see their posters on every wall and tree smilling to attract our hearts to cast our conscience in the ballot wood. In my village, my grand-mother no longer dry her maize seeds under the sun because, savage goats may eat them all.
