IN NIGERIA TRUTH CAN BE ANYTHING DEPENDING ON WHO SAYS IT.!!! The Lugardian Amalgamation called... Nigeria is a place where anything is possible. You can do/say the right thing and be condemned/ sacked and another person, would do the opposite and be praised. Hypocrisy is the game and Nigerians are top players. Consider these two cases studies: Sanusi ($20billion missing)Vs. Odimegwu (fraudulent census) Festus Odimegwu was appointed the chairman of NPC and was charged to conduct a credible census in 2016 where real-time data of every Nigerian would be captured and displayed on demand. He set about this task by proposing Biometric Technology which would not only capture the real time data but also aid Nigeria’s Economic Transformation because itll actually ascertain our real population figure. On the process, he discovered that the past census conducted were nothing but fraud. This he made known to Nigerians but instead of Nigerians to ask him to prove it or launch independent inquiry to ascertain the truth, Kwankwaso a quota system governor led his northern delegates to Aso Rock with the sole aim to get him relieved of his duties. This was achieved and nobody including the progressives parading them selves in APC or PDP said anything about the allegation Eze Festus Odimegwu raised till date. His sack was also celebrated in northern Nigeria. Case closed. However, Sanusi Lamido was appointed the CBN governor in 2009, and in Sept., 2013 he wrote a letter to the president citing $49.9 billion unremitted money . He leaked the same letter to OBJ who used it in his own letter to the president and everything got out of him. Nobody led a delegation for Sanusi to be sacked/ suspended, instead, private auditors were recruited to look into the account books of NNPC. After that, Sanusi changed his $ 49.9billion to $10 billion with an apology. When the GMD of NNPC, Andrew Yakubu revealed to the Senate that the money was used for Kerosene subsidy, he changed his story again to $20 billion with arrogant posture of untouchable. No governor, senator, politician nor political party led a delegation for him to be sacked. Nobody even questioned his conflicting figures which can be likened to that of student who fears Mathematics, like the devil fears the blood of Jesus Christ. We all wanted to know how the money grew wings and flew away, but naturally nobody would like a man that gave out three conflicting figures in 2months to manage an important institution such as CBN, so Mr. President did the needful by showing him the exit door. Rabiu Kwankwaso that led a delegation for Eze Festus Odimegwu to be sacked for saying the obvious truth, is now lamenting that Sanusi has been served with the same venom he fed to Odimegwu. Buhari that applauded Mr. President for sacking Eze Festus Odimegwu, released a press statement yesterday calling the suspension of Sanusian endorsement of corruption.APC that rejoiced when Eze Festus Odimegwu was sacked for saying the truth are now releasing press statement condeming the suspension of Sanusi. Nasir El-Rufai -the accidental public servant that happily tweeted the sack of Eze Festus Odimegwu is now everywhere on blogs condemning the suspension of Sanusi. All the pseudo statesmen that hailed the sack of Eze Festus Odimegwu are now writing articles calling the suspension of Sanusi therise and rise of impunity. Hahaha...wow!!! ! ....These guys seem to have two laws - one for some people and the other for the untouchables .How naive can people be! Anyway, if you think that the sack of Sanusi is illegal and unconstitutional, kindly go to court and save us this noise. As a legal mind I advocate that this is a proper time to ventilate the whole gamut of the jurisprudence of CBN autonomy as enshrined under the CBN Act particularly the controversial Section 11 of the said Act so that the law will be ascertained as to who has the power to appoint, remove or suspend or whether the Act clothed the CBN Gov with untouchable garment or whether the principle of employment with statutory flavour as enunciated by our Supreme Court per Oputa JSC (May God Almighty heal his failing health Amen) in Olaniyan V University of Lagos (1985)2 NWLR (Pt 9)599 CBN V Igwilo. SC.83/2002 etc applies in this case scenerio and whether Mr President acted ultra vires his powers. I cant for the case to be decided!!! In a decent society or saner society (apologies to my oga Awopeju Idowu) Sanusis friends , Kano Emirate Council, family and associates should have advised him to resign his appointment the day he could no longer put together simple arithmetic or the day his interest got divided ( sometimes I mistook him for Uncle Lai Mohammed). It is a well known fact that CBN Budget is so sacred that it does not pass through normal legislative process and cannot be querried thereby assuming the status of Emperor Ceasare or King Czar the Uncommanded Commander. I will not delve into the illegality that led to the sale of Intercontinental Bank to Access Bank when Access Bank is known to be heavily indebted to Intercontinental Bank or the illegal bail out of Unity Bank(Northern Bank as alleged) under Sanusis watch and supervision, illegal N100M donation to Kano State for the bomblast victims without approval as if it was a private money, reckless spending outside appropriation, procurement outside or without recourse to the Burueau of Public Procurement Act etc.. I have not been a fan of Mr President but on Sanusis case I say kudos Sir!!! Whether the hammer came in when NNPC is being investigated or not the most important thing as a matter of opinion is that no one is above the law and for once the President has demonstrated that hes in charge and that hes worth the office hes occupying. However, thats not to say that the issues and the allegations raised by Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi should be waived aside NO!!! The baby must not be thrown away with the bath water. I strongly believe that there must be some merits in the Kano born Princes vituperations. NNPC, Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Auntie Deziani, Auntie Ngo of Harvard sorry the Ogwuashirikwu Princess should all be suspended so that the hired Independent Forensic Auditors as we were told can do a thorough job without influence. No sacred Cow Please!!! In the same vein I implore Mr President to channel the same energy toward weeding the nation of all corrupt elements within the system. More so the allegations of sharp practices and financial crimes against the National Universities Commission(NUC) and our universities must not be swept under the carpet..more and more searchlight into the dealings in our universities especially how Internally Generated Revenues(IGRs) are spent, procurement and award of contracts by universities etc... For now I rest my case!!!! Comrade Henry Okwudirichukwu Ikwunemere aka Lord Henry LC
