IN REMEMBRANCE -Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. James 3;9 We sang In Remembrance of Me as our communion hymn during worship. The song begins with Jesus offering the cup of bread of His disciples. He asks them to eat and drink in remembrance . As the hymn unfolds, the vision of remembering Christ expands: In remembrance of me, heal the sick. In remembrance of me, feed the poor. In remembrance of me, open the door, and let your brother in. I knew that receiving the cup and bread brought Christs presence to me on Sunday. Now, the words suggested a special way to know Christs presence everyday; do some tangible act of love in remembrance of Him. Feed a hungry person, open a door, send a card, cry with a friend, hug a child, say a gracious word to a neighbor. But pause and do your act deliberately in Jesus name. This approach makes our words, too, particularly powerful. A word of kindness- spoken in remembrance of all that Christ has done for us- becomes an extension of His own heavenly love through our earthly tongue. Prayer O God, I know that You love all of Your creation. Today, show me some person whom I can serve as an act of remembrance of Christ. And let my words, too, convey His goodness to all who hear. In Jesus Name, Amen.
