INCIDENT TYPE: Larceny from a person BRIEF NARRATIVE: On 11/27/14, officers of the SBPD respond to the K-Mart Plaza for the report of someone stealing a purse. The 84 year old victim was loading her car when a female ran up to her cart and stole her purse. The female then jumped into a car, driven by a male, and fled the scene. Witnesses were able to provide a description of the car and suspects, who were stopped a short time later by the Burlington Police Department. The suspect who stole the purse was identified as Beth Johnson, age 38 of Vergennes, while the male who drove the vehicle was identified as Jason Elder, age 30 of Vergennes. Both were taken into custody and transported to the SBPD. Johnson was charged with larceny from a person and lodged on $1,000 bail. Elder was charged with larceny from a person, driving with a suspended license and lodged on $1,000 bail.
