INFORMATION about sardars Faimly PESHAWAR: Sardar Inayatullah Khan Gandapur, former chief minister and member of the NWFP Assembly Thursday died of cardiac arrest in Rehman Medical Institute. He was 86. Family of the veteran politician said the ex-chief minister had a heart attack in the morning after which he was taken to the RMI where he died at 6:00pm. His nimaz-e-janaza will be offered today (Friday) at his residence Gandapur Cartage, tehsil Kolachi, DI Khan after Nimaz-e-Asr. He was father of Sardar Ikramullah Gandapur, Sardar Israrullah Gandapur (MPA), Sardar Inamullah Gandapur and father-in-law of Sher Afgan Khan, special secretary, Ministry Foreign Affairs. Late Inayatullah Khan Gandapur started his political career in 1970-71 when he was elected as member of the provincial assembly. He worked as advisor to the then governor Hayat Muhammad Khan Sherpao and served as minister revenue in Mufti Mehmuds cabinet. After being elected as member of the provincial in 1974, he was elected as chief minister NWFP and headed the provincial cabinet for less than two years. He had also been provincial senior minister for ten months in Nasrullah Khan Khattaks cabinet, but resigned later. In 1977 he contested on PPP ticket and won but in 1985 he lost on the National Assembly seat in general polls. In 1988 he won the provincial assembly seat and took charge of the Finance portfolio. In 1990 once again he lost but after his victory in 1993 he was made minister agriculture from which he resigned only after two months. Late Sardar Inayatullah Khan Gandhpur lost election yet for another time in 1997, but in 2002 general elections he succeeded on two seats of the NWFP Assembly. He later retained Parwaki seat and vacated Kolachi seat for his son Sardar Israrullhan Khan Gandapur
