INI EMEMOBONG SPEAKS: I have observed with great dissatisfaction the quantum of negative tension mounted by the current political discourse in our state and country. While it is normal and in fact legal to hold any opinion whatsoever, the antagonistic mien towards opposing ideas and their proponents are very disheartening. Hiding under this cloak, younger persons have thrown caution to the winds, abusing elders with reckless abandon. Peer abuse and hot exchanges have become the norm on social platforms- this is not very healthy. We must apply caution in our actions, words and conduct in order to engender peace. Politics will come and go, but we will remain as a state bonded in love and unity. Moreover, remember that no matter the heated discussions we raise here, the effect on the polity is infinitesimal. Candidates will always emerge from primaries conducted by parties,voted by delegates, while elected office holders will emerge from elections conducted by INEC, voted by those eligible to vote,who have been duly registered and obtained their PVC. i find it difficult to see the effect of fb on the process.please lets not Make enemies for nothing, rather let moderation and sanity reign supreme amongst us.
